Yes — Lee County requires a Residential Accessory Structure permit for sheds of any size, and the City of Fort Myers requires a residential permit. Both want DBPR-approved plans and sealed tie-down details, which we send with the building.
At least 5 ft from the rear line, and no closer to a side line than your zoning district's side setback or 10 ft, whichever is smaller. It can't be closer to the street than the house. The city of Fort Myers and any HOA may be stricter.
Yes. The 14-ft-wide utility sheds, lofted barns and garages (up to 14x40) travel with a pilot car, which adds a permit fee for the trip. On Lehigh's bigger lots they fit the way nothing smaller does.
